Mineral & Toxic Elements Test (Hair)

Mineral & Toxic Elements Test (Hair)
Hair is an excretory tissue that is composed of water, protein, minerals and heavy metals. It’s composition provides a good picture of essential and potentially toxic elements in the body.

The Hair Mineral & Toxic Elements analysis is a complementary and non invasive diagnostic tool which highlights the presence of minerals and toxic elements in the body within the last few months.

Toxic Elements

We live in a very toxic world and our body is burdened with organic and man-made chemicals on a daily basis. These chemicals penetrate the body through air, water, food, medications and domestic household products. The most common toxic elements that are observed in humans are mercury, lead, cadmium, nickel and arsenic.

High levels of heavy metals are associated with multiple disorders in the body, they especially affect the nervous system and brain and have a carcinogenic effect when ongoing toxic exposure occurs.

In terms of detecting body toxicity, the relevant contaminants may be up to 300 times more concentrated in hair compared to other traditional sample indicators such as blood or urine analysis. For this simple reason, coupled with its non-invasive analysis requirement, hair is a natural choice for determining exposure to dangerous elements.

In total 16 heavy metals are tested in the Hair Mineral Analysis.

Trace Minerals:

Its been observed that the food we eat now has less nutrient value and it is specifically lower in mineral density. Together with an unbalanced lifestyle this leads to premature ageing and early age onset of chronic disease such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and cancer. This test includes the following mineral elements: calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, copper, zinc, manganese, chromium, vanadium, molybdenum, boron, iodine, lithium, phosphorus, selenium, strontium, sulphur, cobalt, iron, germanium, rubidium and zirconium.

The Hair Mineral Analysis looks at 22 trace minerals.

Prerequisites for the Hair Mineral Analysis Test:

Hair Element Analysis represents a reliable, valuable and cost effective way of screening for both body toxicity and nutrient levels. In this regard, the outputs can be utilised to support and complement other more routine and established clinical diagnostic tests alongside the patient’s overall symptoms, history and personal experiences.

However the accuracy of hair element analysis does have one pre-requisite. Hair itself is highly vulnerable to external contamination that is routinely introduced through the application of commercial products such as shampoos, conditioners and hair dyes and other processes such as curling or straightening treatment.

Consequently, it is necessary to dismiss such external contributing factors beforehand as they would adversely impact the quality and accuracy of the information obtained through these tests.

Please note: this test is not intended to be solely diagnostic, instead it should be used as a screening tool to complement the health assessment.

For this non invasive test you will need 0.25g of natural non dyed hair. It is recommended not to use conditioner and wash your hair with natural shampoo.
